Description

We are delighted to offer for sale this superb oil painting on canvas by an unknown artist. The painting depicts a glass glask full of Lily of the Valley, which is hanging from a nail by a piece of string. The nail has been hammered into an oak plank. The artist has managed to paint the grain of the oak in slight relief. The flowers have been painted to perfection and the artist has managed to capture the reflection on the glass flask and the light permeating through it in a masterly fashion.

The detail is this painting is amazing and we are only sorry that there are no clues to the identity of the artist. The only thing on the back of the canvas is a round paper label with the number 19 on it in red ink. The number 1 has been written in the continental fashion, which leads to believe that it may by of European origin.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3 1.2" silver gilt frame, which echoes the oak. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
