Description

We are pleased to offer for sale this oil painting of a woman with a sweet expression, possibly in half mourning, dating to circa 1840/1850. The subject is wearing a soft gray dress with a lace tippet held in place with a brooch, and matching undersleeves. She is wearing a white lace bonnet, partially covered with a black veil. Her hair is parted in the middle, with two corkscrew curls on either side. She has a wedding ring on her finger.

The painting is unsigned, therefore we cannot offer any biographical information about the artist, however, this is one of two portraits that we are listing by the same hand.

The painting has been newly framed in a 3 3/8" ornate gilt frame and slip and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
