Description

We are pleased to offer for sale this lovely watercolour by the artist Prudence Turner, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a view of a Scottish loch, with mountains in the background, on a stormy day with heavy clouds in the sky. Unfortunately, on this occasion the artist has not given the location.

This is one of a pair of watercolours by this artist that we are currently listing.

PRUDENCE TURNER was born on the 15th March 1930 in Baluchistan, Pakistan of English parents. She took to painting at an early age and entered a competition against much older children at the age of four. She lived in India, Pakistan, Egypt, France and the UK, always learning and painting. Her best works were her Scottish oils on canvas and were mostly painted while she visited Ballachulish near Glencoe. She died on the 15th September 2007. Auction results for works by this artist are available from artprice (32 listings), arcadja (33) and findartinfo (59). The highest price achieved by one of her highland landscapes was in 2004 at Bonhams, where a painting achieved £635. Another achieved £528 at Bonhams, Chester in 2009.

The painting is mounted with washlines and is nicely framed in a 2 1/8" swept gilt frame. The mount bears a plaque with the name of the artist. It is ready to hang.
