Description

We are pleased to offer for sale this lovely portrait of a young Continental girl by an unknown artist. Although the girl is Continental, we think that the artist is English, as the portrait has been painted on Windor & Newton canvas. As Winsor & Newton became a Limited Company in 1882, this painting predates 1882. She has a beautiful, innocent face and her hair is plaited, with the plaits taken over the top of her head in a very Continental style. She is wearing a two string, blue bead necklace and the top of her dress has a white frill around the neckline. She has also wearing double circular gold earrings.

As the painting is unsigned, we can offer no information about the artist so the portrait must be judged on its merits.

The painting has been newly framed in a very attractive, 2 3/4" ornately decorated gilt frame, which suits it very well. It is ready to hang.
