Description

This is a charming little oil painting on canvas by the monogrammist artist CB. The painting depicts a chubby little girl, lying on the floorboards and partly on a fur rug, writing or drawing on her slate. She has fair hair and is wearing a blue dress, partially covered by an apron, with striped stockings and black leather boots. The slate, which has a wooden surroung, has a rubber attached to it by a string. There is a rather elegant, cabriole legged table standing against the wall behind her.

Unfortunately, although we have checked for the monogram CB, there are many, and we could not ascertain which of the artists may have painted this work. However, it must have been rather difficult for the artist to execute the painting from this angle and he or she has managed it superbly.

The painting is framed in a 2" gilt frame and linen slip with gilded inner edge, which suits it very well. It is ready to hang.
