We are delighted to offer for sale this quite rare portrait oil on canvas by the Italian artist E. Giachi, who has signed the portrait with his rather flamboyant signature in the lower left hand corner. The paintings depicts a young lady, wearing a mob cap and a black ribbon around her neck, holding a red and pink rose in her left hand. She is wearing an off white dress with an organza fichu around the shoulders and has a silver bangle around her left wrist.

E. Giachi was a 19th Century Italian artist, who specialised in painting portraits, figures and genre in oils. Unfortunately, there is very little biographical information available about his, although there is currently a self-portrait, in very bad condition, for sale on artprice. He had a receeding hairline and a handlebar moustache. The portrait is dated 1890, when he was obviously in his later years.

There is one painting by this artist in the National Collection, which may be viewed on google. It is located in the Sunderland Museum.

Auction results achieved for works by this artist may be found at artprice (19 listings), findartinfo (14), artnet (23) and arcadja (9). His record auction price was for an oil painting at Sotheby's New York in 1994, which realised £13,250 plus premium.

The painting is framed in a 3" gilt frame and is ready to hang.
