We are delighted to offer for sale this beautiful portrait by the Swiss artist FRANCOIS GAY. This is one of a small collection of his work that we have recently purchased. This portrait is a profile view of a 1950s lady wearing a typical hat of the period with a very large brim. The hat is worn at an angle showing off her profile to perfection. She is wearing a necklace and earrings.

Unfortunately, other than the fact that he is Swiss and born in 1940, we have been unable to discover much biographical information about this artist, as our reference books only cover up to 1940. However, he is listed on 3 of the major art auction sites and should not be confused with the American artist August-Francois P. Gay.

The painting has been newly framed in a 1 1/2" brushed gilt frame, which suits in perfectly. It is ready to hang.
