This auction is for a very well executed still life oil on canvas by the British artist CONSTANCE COOPER, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting is a still life of a carefully arranged group of objects. There is a Christmas cactus, in flower, a pottery jug, a wine flute and centrally, a silver dish of apples with a knife resting on it. There is also a half peeled lemon, some cherries and a melon to the right of the painting. To the far left, there is another glass.

CONSTANCE COOPER is a twentieth century British artist, who lives/lived in Croydon, Surrey. Unfortunately, as is common with artists of this century, there is little information available in the reference books after 1940. According to a search on google, she was elected a Member of the Society of Women Artists, but in what year we do not know.

The painting is framed in a 2 3/4" gilt, wood and painted frame and is ready to hang.
