Description

We are offering for sale this unusual Murano leopard spotted bowl. The bowl is of square shape with rounded corners and a crimped edge. It is in a gold coloured glass with brown spots that contain copper aventurine inclusions which swirl around the bowl. The bowl is cased in a thin layer of white glass, followed by an outer casing of grey glass and has a polished pontil.

The island of Murano is in the Venetian lagoon and has been the centre of the Italian glass industry for hundreds of years. In fact, in former years, glass blowers were forbidden to leave the island for fear of their secrets becoming known.
