Description

This is a very pretty 19th Century small French Table Lamp in Ormolu & Marble.

The Lamp itself comprises a finely cast ormolu scene of a lady, clad in mid to late 17th Century dress, with her hair falling to each side of her face and drawn up in a net at the back. She is standing next to a clock in Louis XV style that reads 5 o'clock and is looking at something in her hand, which may be a mirror. The base of the lamp is in marble and stands on four feet.

The upturned shade is in peach glass, in a petalled shape..

The lamp has been completely rewired in pale gold fabric covered flex in the antique style and has a new plug. As with all electrical items it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified ele4ctrician before use. As it is impossible to pass three core flex through the narrow stem previously used for two core, it has been wired to the back and hidden from view. It takes a golfball bulb.

Height to top of shade: 15 1/2 inches - 41.3cm

Diameter of shade: 5 inches - 12.65cm

Base: 5 x 3 1/4 inches - 12.7 x 8.25cm

Overall maximum dimensions:

8 1/2 inches wide by 5 inches deep - 21.65 wide by 12.65cm deep

Condition: Very good. The ormolu is in very good condition. There are a couple of nibbles to the edge of the marble, but due to its pattern this is barely noticeable. The shade is in very good condition with no chips or nibbles.
