Description

We are offering for sale this lovely watercolour portrait of a very pretty young lady by the artist, who has signed the portrait in the lower left hand corner M.A. The painting depicts a young lady with brown hair, pairted in the middle and swept up at the back, who has brown eyes and is probably in her late teens, as most Victorian girls wore their hair down until about 15 or 16. She is wearing a white dress with a frill around the neck and a double string of coral beads.

Unfortunately, there are no clues as to the identity of the artist and, as it is initialled rather than a monogram, we can find no trace in our reference books, and there is nothing on the reverse.

The portrait has been newly double mounted in two-tone- acid-free mountboard and is newly framed in a 1 1/8 inch bronze/gilt frame to suit. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
