Description

We are pleased to offer for sale this lovely lithograph by the English artist Don Cordery, who has signed the lithograph in the lower right hand corner. Having spoken to the artist, he confirmed that, although this was a limited edition run, there were some un-numbered ones that were given to friends etc. and this would be one of those. The original edition was sold through Christie's Contemporary Art and a leaflet from this will be included with the lithograph, which the artist was kind enough to give to us. Mr. Cordery also recognises his framing of the lithograph. Please see the photo shown.

The lithographs were printed at Curwen Studios on T. H. Saunders paper.

Don Cordery was born in Hampshire in 1942 and studied at Winchester School of Art and the Royal Academy. In 1967 he was a Young Contemporary Art prizewinner and in 1967 he won a John Moore's prize. At present he lectures at Berkshire College of Art. He lives in Gloucestershire.

There are three of Mr. Cordery's bird lithographs, including a full size Goshawk in the collection of the Tate Gallery, which are available to view by appointment. In 1989, he was commissioned by the Royal Mail to design the stamps for the centenary of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

The lithograph was mounted and framed by the artist and is in a bird's eye maple frame with gilt slip. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
