Description

We are offering for sale this unusual and quite rare 19th Century Brass Door Stop or Door Porter on a weighted base. It depicts King George III and is after his Coronation portrait by Allan Ramsey 1712-1784. The King is wearing his Coronation Robes and is standing next to the side of a plinth on which is written Bill of Rights and Magna Charta. In his left hand he is holding a scroll, but we cannot decipher what is written on it, and in his right, a sceptre. On his right hand side is a cornucopia, presumably depicting prosperity during his reign. The door stop has green baize on the base.
