We are offering this very pretty oval pastel portrait of a Victorian young lady, by an unknown artist. The portrait depicts a head and shoulders study of a young girl, probably in her late teens, with wavy, light brown hair and blue eyes, She is wearing a turquoise dress, with white insert. Her hair is long, parted in the middle with the sides swept back and tied at the back with a turquoise bow to match her dress. We would estimate that she is about sixteen or seventeen, as after this, her hair would be in a swept up style, as it was considered unseemly for Victorian women to wear their hair down, unless they were actresses or models.

Unfortunately, the portrait is unsigned, therefore we can offer no information about him or her.

The portrait has been newly mounted in two tone acid-free mountboard and is framed in an ornate, 2 1/4 inch gilt frame. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.

Condition: Very good with no losses to the pastels and no foxing. The mounts are frame are new. Altogether a very decorative item.
