We are offering this large, Italian impressionist Still Life Oil on Canvas by the artist V. Varani, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts an array of fruit both in a glass bowl on stand and on the table in front of it. The items are arranged on some draped white fabric. There is also a glass carafe with stopper and two glasses, one full of red wine. The backgound colour is one much favoured by the artist.

From what little information there is available, as most of our reference books do not cover the mid 20th Century, The artist was born in 1920 in Formia, Lazio, Italy and lived in worked in Milan for many years. Specialist of the artist include still life and ballet paintings.

The painting has been newly framed in a 2 1/2 inch warm gilt frame which suits it very well. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.

Condition: Very, very good. There are no repairs to the canvas, no stretcher marks or craquelure. We haven't shown a photo of the back of the canvas as there is nothing to see, but one is available on request. The frame is new.
