Description

This is a really lovely and finely executed Victorian landscape by an unknown artist. It depicts a view of a mountainous landscape in the distance, with a little rivulet babbling through its rocky bed in the foreground. To the right of the water is a bank of dense undergrowth with a stand of trees trees behind it.

The painting has been executed on prepared artist's board which bears no inscription or maker's name, let alone any helpful information about the location or the artist. However, from the landscape itself, we would suggest that the location may be North Wales, the Lake District, or Scotland.

The painting is framed in a more contemporary, swept gilt frame and narrow slip. It will be supplied wired with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.

Condition: Very good condition. The surface is clean and there is no damage, craquelure or paint loss. The frame and slip are in very good condition.
