Description

We are pleased to offer for sale this large oil on canvas board by the 20th Century English artist JULIA BRENAN, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner and dated it 1986. The painting features head portraits of four Red or Irish Setters.

Julia Brenan originally came from Croydon in Surrey but, since 2001, lives in Carmarthenshire. She is primarily an equine and canine artist and a lot of her paintings are now available in print form. In 1979 she was commissioned to paint the winner of Crufts Dog Show and did so for the next 18 years. She received a commission to paint Prince Michael of Kent, with his labrador 'Sponge' and another to paint the late Princess Diana for Northampton City Council, a painting which now can be viewed in the Northampton Museums and Art Gallery.

She had her first international exhibition in Santa Fe, New Mexica in 1990 and, in the same year, at the Dog Museum in St. Louis Missouri. She has also exhibited in Toronto, New York and Helsinki.

The painting is framed in a 3 1/4" wooden frame and gilt slip and is ready to hang.
