We are offering this lovely pastel portrait of a pretty young girl by the artist H. Decours, who has signed the painting in the top right hand corner. The portrait is a head and shoulders study of a young girl of about 16 or 17, as her hair is still down and loose around her shoulders, although some is drawn up into a topknot at the back and one long, loose strand is tied with a pale green bow. She is wearing a beige or ivory dress in a gauzy material, with a frill around the neck and a corsage of pink roses at the decolettage. She has light brown hair and blue eyes. We would estimate the pastel to be Edwardian.

We presume that the artist H. Decours is French or possibly Belgian, but he or she may not have exhibited their work, as we can find no mention of that name in our reference books or in an online search.

The pastel has been newly double mounted in two-tone acid free mountboard and is newly framed in a 3" ornate, silver grey frame, which complements the pastel. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
