Description

We are offering for sale this beautifully toned floral oil on canvas by the artist Victor Hernandez, who has signed the painting to the lower right hand corner. The painting depicts a brown pottery urn full of a mixture of Irises, Laburnum and Lilac on a ledge, and the soft tones of these flowers complement each other very well. The flowers have been very expertly executed by the artist.

Victor Hernandez is, or was an artist who specialised in painting flowers, principally in oils. As we have seen a painting of his dated 1957, he may not still be alive. He is not to be confused with the Spanish artist Victor Hernandez Amores (1827-1901), whose dates are often given for the 20th Century Victor Hernandez. We are unaware of the nationality of our artist, but his work seems to be sold on the English market and the canvas (Winton) that was used for this painting was made by Winsor & Newton and bears the date letters for 1975.

The painting has been newly framed in a 2 3/4" pale gold frame. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and felt bumpers and will be ready to hang.
