Description

We are offering for sale this early 20th Century Austrian Green Onyx dish, trinket, change or pin tray, which is mounted with a pair of cold-painted Budgerigars, probably a male and female, perching on a branch.

Cold Painted Bronze animals and birds, as well as figures, have been produced in various manufactories around Vienna in Austria from the late 19th Century up until the present day, although there were a large number produced in the early 20th Century. Franz Bermann (1838-1894) was the greatest exponent on the genre and his subjects were wide ranging from dogs, cats, bird through to Native Americans and North African carper sellers.

Total height: 3 3/4" - 9.5cm

Materials: Green onyx & Bronze

Condition: Very good. The onyx is in very good condition with minimal wear and the two birds' paint is virtually intact.
