Description

We are pleased to offer this lovely marine oil on mahogany panel by the artist W. BRADLEY, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner W. Bradley and dated it 1930. The painting depicts a tea clipper, at dawn and almost under full sail, heeling before the wind. The intricacies of the rigging of the ship, the lifeboats and crew, have been executed in minute detail.

There are several artists with the name W. Bradley and, whilst we have managed to rule out several, we are still unsure as to the biographical details of this W. Bradley. There is a W. Bradley listed on findartinfo.com who seems to paint marines in oil, so this may be him. As, however, the dates listed on the auction sites are somewhat suspect, we cannot attribute any birth and death dates to this artist.

The painting is framed in its original 2" gilt frame and is ready to hang.
