Description

This is a very decorative polychrome Plaster Bust of a Nubian Woman on a plinth. She is wearing a fringed headdress, held in place with an ornamental band, over her long wavy black hair and has many necklaces, one bearing a hanging crescent. This is a head and shoulders bust with an integral square flared plinth base. It is unmarked, save for the numbers 1222 impressed in the back of the plinth. The base has a felt covering. In our opinion it was made in the 1920s/30s.

Condition: Very good. Considering its composition, there is little evidence of previous damage, only one slight loss to the edge of the drapery of the dress at the front, previously touched in and some lines probably from the mould to the back of the headdress.
