Description

We are delighted to offer for sale this beautiful, large, 19th Century Japanese Imari porcelain table lamp, in the shape of a ginger jar and cover, which has been converted from an oil lamp in the past. The brass base, which is square, with reeded sides and curved corners, is beautifully cast, as is the ornate circlet of berry and leaves below the jar, which is echoed at the rim. The lamp is finished by a bespoke shade from the makers of the Downton Abbey, Mr. Selfridge, etc. TV series lampshades.

The shade is in the 'Dorchester' style, has a navy blue more silk crown, a body of gold slub silk, soft gold fringe with long navy tassels, the whole finished with a gold braid.

The lamp has been rewired with antique gold coloured braided flex, with all new fittings, including a safer switched lampholder and a shade carrier. As with all electrical items, it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician before use.
