We are offering for sale this quality pair of Brass Corinthian Column Table Lamps with elegant shades by the makers of the Downton Abbey, Mr. Selfridge etc., television series lampshades.

The lamps have a stepped 4 tier base, with a reeded Corinthian column leading to a capital decorated with acanthus leaves and are very good quality. These are slightly unusual in that the reeded column is graduated, becoming narrower towards the top. In our opinion they are mid twentieth century.

The shades are in the 'Paris' style and are made in gold brocade, with corner panels in William Morris 'snakeshead' pattern. They have gold fringe, gold braid and, on each corner point, a gold and cream beaded tassel.The shades can be positioned so that the tassels are in line with the corners of the bases, or central to the column. It is a matter of personal choice and we have shown photographs of both options.

The lamps have been rewired with antique gold coloured braided flex and have all new fittings, including safer switched lampholder, shade carrier and new plug. It is recommended that, as with all electrical items, they be checked by a certified electrician before use.
