We are offering this mid 20th Century, impressionist oil on canvas half length portrait, depicting a young arab man in his traditional robes and wearing a turban.We believe that he may be one of the Berber people from Morocco, as they traditionally wear blue robes and turbans. Apparently blue is viewed as a good colour to wear in the desert due to its association with cool water. The painting is indistinctly signed to the lower right hand corner, but is dated 1948.

The portrait has been executed by an unknown artist, and, unfortunately, there are no clues as to his or her identity.

The painting has been newly framed in a 2 1/4" dull silver cushion frame. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Condition: The surface is clean and taut and there is no craquelure or stretcher marks. The painting has been restreched on a new stretcher, due to the poor condition of the old one. The frame is new.
