Description

We are pleased to offer for sale this rather stunning and original, early 1960s Pottery Table Lamp in a glaze known as Rimini Blue. The lamp was designed by Aldo Londi of the Italian firm Bitossi Ceramiche and the lamp comes together with a bespoke turquoise 100% cotton shade with mirrored copper lining.

Bitossi Ceramiche are based a few kilometres from Florence and was started by Guido Bitossi in the 1921, although the Bitossi family had been involved in that region as kiln workers, sculptors, and painters since 1536 and as art potters since the mid 1800s. Aldo Londi joined the company in the 1930s, first as a painter, then as artistic director and remained with the company for more than 50 years.

The lamp has been completely rewired with fabric covered braided flex in a toning turquoise, and all new fittings, including safer switched lampholder, shade carrier and plug. As with all electrical items, it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician before use.
