Description

This is a superb Marine Watercolour by the monogrammist artist who has signed the painting WH, or possible WTH or WHT in the lower left hand corner. The painting is absolutely full of movement and depicts a twin masted, gaff rigged ketch heeling over before the wind on the approach to Dover harbour, with the white cliffs and Dover Castle visible to the right. We believe the lighthouse is the one on the Prince of Wales Pier, but are open to correction.

We have so far been unable to discover the name of the artist, although the name of T. Hayden is on the back, but this may be the name of the former owner. If by any chance anyone recognises the monogram, please get in touch with us.

The watercolour has been newly double mounted in two-tone acid free mountboard to complement, and is framed in a 1" traditional gilt frame to suit. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
