We are offering this very unusual Porcelain and Brass Oil Lamp, now converted to electricity and new shade from the makers of the Downton Abbey, Mr. Selfridge TV Series lampshades.

The base is Porcelain and made in two halves, with a central, pierced brass band, with three circular brass buttons from which brass chain and drops hang. The top half features a black ground, with pictures of cherubs in various poses depicting art, science and music, whilst the bottom half has three sprays of flowers. The decoration is part transfer printed with some hand painted additions. The whole stands upon a heavy, ornamented brass base with three ornate scroll feet.

The Shade is in the 'Ballerina' style and is made in Black Moire Silk, with gold fringe, black and gold braid and bears beaded tassels in black and gold.

The lamp has been newly rewired with antique gold coloured, twisted, braided silk covered flex and has all new fittings, including safer switched lampholder, black plug and shade carrier. As with all electrical items, it is recommended that it be checked by a qualified electrician prior to use.

Condition: Very good. There is slight wear to the black ground of the bottom of the lamp, due to handling over the years while being carried, other than this, there is no damage. The shade is new.
