Late 19th C. Brass Jardiniere On 3 Dolphin Legs

Description

We are offering this rather unusual and heavy, late Victorian Dutch style Jardiniere, which stands on three Dolphin legs, with their heads as the feet and their bodies covered in scales. The bowl has three lion masks holding brass rings in their mouths and the bottom of the bowl has curved reeded embossing. Between the lion masks there are embossed scenes on two sides - cottages with a rider on a horse, a lake or sea view with a sailing boat and a windmill in the distance and, on the third side is a heraldic crest between two lions, as shown. There is a slight rope edge around the top rim.
