Description

We are offering for sale this attractive and heavy solid brass Footman, sometimes called a Trivet, which has a pierced top decorted with a geometric design and scrolls and is raised on cabriole front legs. All four side of the Footman are pierced with a design of hearts and scrolls and there are two handles for ease of movement. There are no makers marks visible.

As opposed to trivets, which were used in kitchens, footmen were for use in the parlour, to warm dishes, muffins etc. and to stand kettles on.
