Description

We are delighted to offer for sale this rather beautiful Table Lamp and Shade, convented from a Victorian Oil Lamp. The Vase part of the lamp is comprised of two pieces, the base up to the central gold line is covered in a fine pattern, while the top half has a design of hand painted frilly poppies in a soft purple shade over a pale peach and eau de nil ground, the stems and leaves heavily ornamented in gold. The porcelain is unmarked, but is in the style of Royal Worcester.

The circular base is in heavy, embossed brass, with three circular fluted feet, which rise into scrolls that terminate around the base of the porcelain vase.

The shade is by the makers of the Downton Abbey TV Series lampshades and is in the Maia style. The fabric is gold silk brocade, with matching gold braid and soft gold fringe, which is overlaid with champagne beads. The beads tone beautifully with the porcelain.

The lamp has been rewired with antique style gold braided flex and has all new fittings. As with all electrical items, it is recommended that it be tested by a qualified electrician before use.

Height to top of shade: 27" - 68.55cm

Diameter of base: 6 1/2" - 16.5cm

Diameter of Shade: 15" - 38cm

Condition: Very good. The brass base and cap are in perfect condition. The top half of the porcelain section has three hairline cracks running down from the top, two short and one 2/3rd of the way down towards the central line, (as shown) but they are on the sides and back and barely noticeable. The lamp has been priced accordingly. The bottom half of the porcelain is perfect. The shade is new.
