Description

We are offering this early 20th Century oil on board by the artist H. Huntley, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner in red. The painting depicts a sunset scene of a rocky coast, with seagulls wheeling in the thermals and the waves crashing against the rocks, where sea birds are also nesting. Perched on top of the highest cliff are the ruins of a castle.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to trace the artist, who obviously did not exhibit, as he or she are not present in any of our reference books and, without knowing the Christian name, there are too many H. Huntleys to make a search through the Census viable.

The painting is framed in a 2" bronze and gilt crackle finish frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Medium: Oils on board

Condition: Very good. The surface is clean and there is no craquelure or damage. There is a slight bowing to the board which is barely noticeable. The frame is in good condition with very minor wear.
