Description

We are offering this impressionist floral still life oil painting by the artist William Reynard Hood, who has signed the painting in the lower left hand corner. The painting depicts a cream coloured china or pottery vase full of tea roses and hollyhocks.

William Reynard Hood was born in Edmonton, London on 17th September 1902. In the 1939 Register, he was listed as living in Leatherhead in Surrey, with his wife and two sons and his occupation was listed as Manager & Director of an Import and Manufacturing Company. He died in Croydon Surrey in 1991. As the Census records after 1911 are not available for public viewing at this time, we have been unable to discover any further biographical information about him either when he started painting, whether he did it full time in later life or whether he studied art or was self-taught. He painted mostly floral still life in oils.

There are a few examples of his flower paintings on google images and a few auction results at the usual sites.

The painting is framed in a 4" gilt frame with velvet insert and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
