We are offering for sale this very well executed still life oil on canvas by the 20th Century Croydon artist CONSTANCE M. COOPER, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner. The painting is a still life of a blue and white bowl filled with spring flowers, including tulips, narcissi, primulas, grape hyacinths and forsythia. There is a landscape painting in a gilt frame on the wall behind the flowers and a book on the table to the left of a bowl.

CONSTANCE M. COOPER 1905-1998 is a twentieth century British artist, who lived in Croydon, Surrey. She studied at Croydon College of Art and was elected to the Society of Women Artists, becoming their Vice President. She was also the President of Croydon Art Society for 22 years. According to their website, she had a business in London employing 23 girls in the design and construction of lampshades for royalty. She was a great supporter of the Scout movement and was largely responsible for the Society raising and donating many thousands of pounds to charities, including the Scouts. At one time she lived at 35 Shirley Park Road, Croydon.

The painting is framed in a 3" ornate swept gilt frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Condition: Excellent. There are no repairs to the canvas, which is clean and taut. There is no craquelure, stretcher marks, or missing paint. The frame is new.
