Description

We are pleased to offer this lovely Still Life Oil Painting of a bowl of spring flowers by the artist Peggy Barley, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner and dated it '70 for 1970. The painting will bring a waft of the Spring to come, into the depths of Winter. The painting depicts a selection of spring flowers including narcissi, forsythia, hellebores, anemones, daffodils, hyacinths and tulips which are arranged in a white pottery bowl on an oriental stand.

Peggy Barley lived in Hove, Sussex and trained at Brighton School of Art. She was a keen gardener and specialised in painting flowers, so her subjects very often came from her own garden.

She exhibited at Sussex Artists' Exhibitions and in London and Provincial galleries.
