Description

We are delighted to offer this stunning solid brass Armillary Sphere Table Lamp, which is mounted on a cylindrical block of red walnut with a stepped brass base and includes the shade. The shade is in natural coloured linen and has a gold lining to tone with the Lamp.

An Armillary Sphere is an old astronomical instrument and model of the celestial globe, constructed from rings and hoops representing the equator and other delectrial circles with the earth at the centre. The word Armillary is derived from the Greek term armilla meaning ring or bracelet. The Armillary Sphere was probably invented in the 3rd Century by the Greek astronomer Eratosthenes.

The wiring is modern and the lamp is in working order, but with all old lamps, it is recommended that it be checked by an electrician before use.
