Description

We are offering for sale this beautifully executed and subtly toned watercolour by the Danish artist Lis Bjergsted, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner with her pseudonym Paula French. The painting depicts St. Paul's Church, Covent Garden in London.

Lis Bjergsted was born in Copenhagen on 9th October 1929. She was a painter in oils and watercolours, specialising in painting city landscapes and was fascinated by the architecture and atmosphere of major cities. Her oils are more brightly coloured and are mainly scenes in Denmark, whilst the watercolours are more subtle, as this one, and appear to be of London landmarks. A short biography of her is available on askart.com, although the full biography is only available to subscribers. She sadly died on 27th October 2007.
