Description

We are offering for sale this large sold bronze hand-painted pheasant, which is signed on the plinth Fratin, after Christophe Fratin 1801-1864, the noted French sculptor. This is a later casting after one of his original animalier sculptures. He was one of the first sculptors to have animalier work accepted by the Paris Salon and one of his large sculptures of Eagles and Prey is standing in Central Park in New York.

The pheasant is situated on a naturalistic base and is turning its head. The detail of the feathers is excellent.
