We are offering for sale a rare, large handmade NEWLYN silver plated on copper galleried tray/fish platter decorated with a stylised repousse border of fish, seaweed and shells. The pierced gallery has two integral handles, the whole being of oval form. The area within the border is hammered. The tray is stamped NEWLYN at both ends.

Please note that any pink colour showing on the photos is purely reflection from the hands of the photographer and not that the silver plate is worn and is showing the copper through it.

We say this item is rare because we can find only some cutlery by Newlyn which is silver plated, although they did also work in silver, for jewellery etc.

We found on google the identical tray in copper, which sold for £320 at Byrne's Auctioneers on 22nd September, 2010.

This item would be ideal on which to serve a whole salmon.
