Slades Antiques

Description

This set of scales look to date from the turn of the twentieth century. They are designed to be hung up and have hooks at each side. They are stamped with United Yeast Co. Ltd. and so may have been used to weigh bread or small sacks. They are also stamped 'Class C' and 'To Weigh 4lbs'. They are contained within an oak box and also present are two 2lb weights. The box and weights are probably not original.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some corrosion to the metalwork in places and they are overall a little grubby. The weights are slightly different in style and have been overpainted at some point. They also have some surface corrosion and wear. The oak box has some scuffing, wear and grubbiness as might be expected. The metal hinge has some surface rusting.
