Description

This lovely pair of Royal Crown Derby lidded urns look to date from the first half of the nineteenth century. Please note that they do have some damage. The urns have the orange Royal Crown Derby mark to the base and the number '33'. The have square bases, ram's head handles and lift-off lids. They are hand-painted.

Condition: Overall in fair condition with some damage and loss consistent with age. They would benefit from some restoration work. Both the urns have some chipping and cracking in places, and one has some hairline cracking to the base. There are some manufacturing flaws and some flaws in the glaze. The gilt highlights are rubbed in places and the urns both have some crazing. The ram's head handles are damaged. On one urn they are both missing their horns and have been smoothed down and retouched in an effort at restoration at some point. On the other urn one of the ram's heads has been broken and reglued at some point and is missing one horn. Both the lids are chipped, one worse so than the other.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
30cm high, 22cm wide (between handles).
