Description

This lovely antique chest of drawers looks to date from the second half of the seventeenth century. It is constructed from solid oak with panelled drawers and sides. It consists of two small drawers over three longer graduated drawers. The chest is supported on bracket feet. The drawers retain replacement handles and escutcheons, and all the drawers except for one of the top small drawers retain their locks, although please note that no keys are present. It is of nice proportions and has a lovely patina.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some signs of restoration and repair, and the bracket feet may have been cut down at some point. There are some signs of old woodworm, mainly to the back panel - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. There is some shrinkage cracking to the drawer bases and some wear to the drawer runners. One of the small drawers is missing its lock, and no keys are present.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 90.5cm high, 85.5cm wide, 58.5cm deep (to maximums).
