Description

This attractive mahogany swing mirror dates from c.1880. It has a mahogany frame, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The mirror base has an attractive serpentine front and the mirror has decorative serpentine supports. The mirror has an arched top and a wooden frame. It is supported on two shaped feet at the back and a small carved central foot at the front.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, marking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall significantly faded. There is some wood shrinkage cracking to the mirror frame. The mirror has some slight corrosion. It looks as if the mirror would originally have had two feet at the front, but that one of these has been lost and the other moved to the middle at some point.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 53cm high, 44cm wide, 20cm deep (to maximums).
