Description

This lovely antique hall chair dates from the mid-nineteenth century, but is older in style. It has a very high back with rosewood barley twist supports and rosewood carving at the top. The chair has what we believe to be walnut barley twist front legs. It has an tapestry upholstered seat and back - this is not original to the chair but has some significant age.

Condition: Overall this is a lovely chair, but does need some restoration work. The seat is sunken and fragile and needs attention. The upholstery is grubby, frayed and worn, and is threadbare in places. There is some holing to the seat and back and the beaded edge around the seat is partially missing. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some wood loss to the bottom of the back legs. The frame is solid with only some minimal movement in the joints.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 126cm high, 47cm wide, 47cm deep (to maximums) 44cm high to seat.
