Details - Oil on canvas painting on a Rowney & Co. (of 52 Rathbone Place, London) canvas of a gentleman that looks to date from the mid-nineteenth century. Not signed or titled, subject unknown. Framed in a period gilt frame with gesso decoration.

Condition - Overall in fair-good condition with some wear and damage consistent with age. The painting has some crazing and cracking to the paintwork and some marking and foxing. There is some brown staining or spotting the subject's face around one eye. The painting is overall grubby and would benefit from a clean. It also looks to have been touched up in places. The frame has some cracking and damage and some quite significant losses. It also looks to have been touched up in places. There is some woodworm damage to the back of the frame which may require treatment.

Frame - 103cm by 91cm, 9.5cm deep.
