Description

This antique chest of drawers dates from the early part of the twentieth century. It is constructed from what we believe to be solid satinwood. Please note that it does require some restoration. The chest consists of two small drawers over three longer drawers, all with tramline decoration across the middle. The drawers retain their original metal handles and locks, athough please note that no key is present. There is a retailer's plaque on the back of the chest for City Drapery Stores in Oxford.

Condition: Overall this is a nice chest of drawers, but please note that it does have some wear and damage consistent with age and use and would benefit from some sympathetic restoration. It is grubby and dusty with some marking and staining, and there is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork that is heavy in places. There is some marking to the top. The chest would benefit from a careful clean and polish. The drawer runners are worn and would benefit from some attention. The rail between the feet at the front is detached and broken but present, and some of the blocks underneath are also detached. There are some signs of woodworm damage, mostly to the back panel - this has been treated but would benefit from being retreated.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 104cm high, 104.5cm wide, 51cm deep (to maximums).
