Description

This attractive antique work table dates from the second half of the nineteenth century. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The work table has a small drop-leaf to either side of the top, each of which is supported on a pull-out wooden arm. Beneath the top are two small drawers, with matching faux drawer fronts at the other side. The table is supported on a round pedestal base with a quadraform base terminating in four scrolled feet. The drawers and drawer fronts retain turned wooden handles. The drawers also retain their locks, but please note that no key is present.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition but does have some wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from some tlc. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall faded. There is some knocking, chipping and loss to the veneer in places. There are some signs of old restoration and repair - there are some areas of repair to the veneer and some of the drawer handles look to have been replaced. One escutcheon is missing. The feet would originally have had castors, but these are now missing, and there is some cracking and loss around where they would originally have been.
