Description

This lovely parlour chair dates from c.1860. It would benefit from some tlc, and from reupholstery. It has a lovely solid mahogany show frame with decorative carving at the top. The chair has an over-upholstered sprung seat with a serpentine front and an over-upholstered button back. The upholstery is not original. It is supported on scrolled legs at the front and square legs at the back.

Condition: Overall this is an attractive Victorian parlour, but it would benefit from being reupholstered and from some restoration work. The upholstery is grubby, worn and dated and some of the edging is loose. There is some movement in the joints of the chair. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, which is heavy in places, and the chair is overall a little faded. There are some signs of old woodworm to the legs - this is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution. There is some minor wood loss to the bottoms of the legs. The chair would originally have had castors, which are now missing.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 83cm high, 65cm wide, 75cm deep (to maximums) 34cm high to seat.
