Victorian Wall-Mounted Oil Lamp with Pierced Body

Description

This lovely oil lamp dates from around 1890. It is designed to be mounted to the wall and is fixed to a more modern wooden block. The lamp has a brass body with pierced geometric decoration, a copper reservoir, and a twin burner that is marked 'Best British Made'. There is no wick present, although both the knobs turn smoothly. The lamp retains a glass chimney. It is a lovely decorative piece. There are no maker's marks.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. It is overall a little tarnished and has some pitting, corrosion and surface wear in places. There is some denting, including to the top of the burner. There is no wick or shade present. The wooden block that the lamp is fixed to is more modern.

Overall - 28cm high (not including chimney), 13cm diameter.
