Description

This lovely large desk dates from c.1880s. It is a partners desk, meaning that there are drawers to both sides of the top and pedestals. The desk has a single large red leather inset top with gilt tooling around the edges. Each side has three drawers beneath the top with three further drawers to each pedestal. The drawers all retain their handles, locks and escutcheons, but please note that no key is present and that some of the locks may be replacements. The desk has panelled sides and tramline decoration.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, scratching and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall quite faded. The top is a little warped (curved). The leather has some scuffing, wear and a few burn holes. There are some signs of restoration - the blocks on top of the pedestals have been replaced, and one of the long middle drawers looks to have been re-made. Both the middle drawers have later sectionalisation. No key is present.
